I'm surprised by the overwhelmingly positive reviews below, as our experience at Highgrove House was very poor. We stayed for one night on our recent honeymoon (it was recommended by a UK agent, who we have complained to).
The only positive thing I can say is that the grounds were lovely and very peaceful.
Our room (the honeymoon suite) was...
This was a poor hotel! We stayed 2 nights and could not wait to get away. Near to a busy main road so little chance of seeing any "wild" animals. Saw no sign of any hippos! Worse was lack of water when we were there. There was no hot water. Even cold water was variable in pressure from ok to...
I stayed here as part of a tour and first impression with the golf course and timeshares was great. Until you are taken to your hotel room. The rooms were very dated, not kept up at all.
The food was just ok. Service was limited. Most people made you feel you were bothering them.
Women in convenient store was really...

The rooms are quite a relief, after a long day. From the outside it does not look to well, but once in the room, a different story. The Hotel itself is rather boring, and the one night we were only 3 in the restaurant and were only then told that there will be no buffet and were given a menu,...

The service at the restaurant was slow and the front desk staff didn't seem to know what was going on; however, several people were evaluated from camps and most of them seem to end up here.
Casa Do Sol is a beautiful hotel. With a very sort of Spanish/European idea of little stone walkways, lovely lush gardens, inviting swimming pools, and comfortable rooms.
They are perfectly located near the Kruger Park gates, and have a selection of fantastic restaurants and outdoor activity areas nearby.
Having said that, I now come to the part that unfortunately trumps...
