My husband and I went to Africa for our anniversary. We stayed at two different properties and we found the tents are dirty and full of bugs at the fairmont. It felt like actual camping. Their safari jeeps are old and filthy in comparison to other camps. Though the staff are very friendly and try hard there are better resorts...
We stayed at Sandies Coconut Village in December following a few days on safari in the Masai Mara (which was incredible). Overall we were not impressed and would certainly not return nor recommend it to anyone else who’s looking to add a beach portion onto their Kenya trip. Summary appears below.

First of all, the staff at the front...
Oh dear! Cockroaches and other bugs in my rooms (level 3 and 4). Had to stay pre and post safari as shocking company Absolute Adventure Africa use it as their Nairobi accommodation. Smelly on arrival. Staff need to wear deodorant. Holes in the old mosquito nets. You couldn't be bigger than a size 12 to fit into the bathroom (1m...
Staggeringly poor value for money. Tired and shabby rooms, awful bathrooms, mediocre food all add up to a hotel to avoid. There are better value alternates in the city.

the hotel faces the slums of Nairobi. Staff is extremely nice but rooms are infested with mosquito and no fan or air conditioner. Gets very stuffy. Our room was extremely small and not good value for money. The good thing was we were very close to Nairobi park.
I have no hesitation in recommending Miti Mingi for those who wish to chill from the noise and bustle of Nairobi. Mary prepares a delicious breakfast and the lounge area is ideal for relaxing and planning for the next day. Sit outside in the early afternoon and you can spot numerous exotiic birds within Miti Mingi (many trees). Do not...
We held a week-long event here for work. The facilities were very good, and all of the staff were extremely helpful. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and relaxing, and the rooms are nice as well. If you like golf or need excellent conference space plus accommodations, then the Windsor is a great location. If you want to see...
We chose this hotel as there are no hotels at the airport in Nairobi, something that really needs to be fixed! It was reasonably priced, had a good looking website, appears on western sites such as Hotels.com, and was close to the main road out to the airport.
I can't help but feel that The Strand spend all their money...
first of all, we were stupid for booking a hotel with one of the tourist trappers just outside of nairobi airport. as soon as you step foot outside of the airport, you will be bombarded by tourist trappers. if you book with them, be sure that you will be charged at least double what you should pay. my recommendation is...
This is probably my 4th time staying at the Southern Sun Mayfair, and each time the rooms seem to be dating more and more.
I was put in Room 130 something, which is close to the Generator, and there were a couple of power cuts which meant there was a lot of noise in the room. The TV's are old,...
Coming from the brilliant Flamingo Hill in Nakuru, I have to admit the first impression of this camp was not all that positive. We had high expectations, as the camp unashemedly claimed to be a "boutique camp", expectations which were also reinforced but our driver ("just wait until you get t Mara Leisure")
Located on the river Talek, the camp...
I stayed here for one night and was so impressed with the service and the friendliness of the people, I would definitely go back.
Fridah and Rachel at reception were super helpful by arranging everything I needed (from arranging taxi's to organising phone calls from South Africa and printing my boarding passes!) And the room service was cheap, fast and...
A modern-enough, soulless establishment typical of tens of thousands of 4 star establishments in business capitals worldwide, with functional service, well-appointed rooms, and few visible standards of wear and tear. Four complaints, however: (1) The area surrounding the hotel is a moribund of all activity once the sun goes down (and also devoid of views of the city, despite its...
