Auberge Bligny
Franschhoek, South Africa

Of the eight or nine places we stayed during a three week tour around South Africa--ranging from two stars to luxury five stars--the Auberge Bligny ranked dead last. Cold, musty room,(Jack, the owner, couldn't fix the heater so tossed us an extra blanket and stomped off to bed.), tucked in the back of a worn-out inn. It's long overdue for...

The Villas at Le Franschhoek
Franschhoek, South Africa

We stayed at The Villas over a Friday and Saturday night at the end of a week long vacation in the Cape Town Area. Our first night at The Villas was lovely. The Villas are set in a beautiful and tranquil location. Our small but cozy single villa was at the edge of the property with an unobstructed view of...

Rickety Bridge Country House
Franschhoek, South Africa

Its not often I would openly recommend a hotel or estate house as a wedding venue, but Rickey Bridge in the Franschoek Valley more that met the expectations of the guests and ourselves when we stayed over to attend their wedding. Set in one of the most beautiful valleys and wine regions in the country, it was a wonderful day...

Sunny Lane
Franschhoek, South Africa

We stayed with Sunny Lane for 2 days and that was well enough. The owner wasn't even there when we arrived so the maid let us in. When she did arrive home, she wasn't the least interested in us and didn't even bother to come in with us to make sure everything was ok. The room was fine, but the...

Le Quartier Francais
Franschhoek, South Africa

Apparantly, it was very stupid of me to have left my bag in the room while we went to the Tasting room and the common room for 2 consecutive nights. I didn't realize money was lost till the end of the trip, when we need to use my stack of 1000 Rand. What was left was only 8 bills of...

Franschhoek Country House & Villas
Franschhoek, South Africa

Tucked away behind a large wall, Franschoek is a French -designed house in South Africa’s winelands, about 1-1/2 hours from Cape Town. You’ll think you’re in Italy or France with the period furnishings and formal gardens. . Our large twn-bedded room was on the ground floor and opened to a patio with fountains and abundant groomed greenery. (You can’t sleep...

The guest house is set amongst the vines and the views are breathtaking! We had a suite with an amazing view out over the mountains! The bedrooms were fantastic with plenty of space to relax in! The Last Word Franschhoek
Franschhoek, South Africa

This was our second visit to The Last Word at Franschhoek. We stayed last Christmas and enjoyed it so much we decided to visit again. We booked a room with a private plunge pool which, whilst pricey, was just lovely. Overall we had a fabulous stay here and wish it had been longer. The staff are very pleasant and welcoming....

Rusthof Country House
Franschhoek, South Africa

I think Rusthof would have been lovely in the summer but is was freezing the weekend we were there and although the bed was really comfy it was freezing and there were no extra blankets whcih I only found out in the middle of the night. The lounge in reception had no fire which they advertised they had so it...

Maison Chablis Guest House
Franschhoek, South Africa

I really enjoyed my stay here. The accommodations were more than satisfactory and James, the owner, was very helpful in guiding us to everything we needed. I have to admit, I am a very picky traveller, but I was more than satisfied with our choice. I would totally recommend and definitely visit again!

This is a lovely cosy pretty b&b in the centre of Franschoek. It is very well situated to allow you to stroll around the town. Great recommendations from the manager for wine tours, restaurants etc. Pool is lovely to relax after a busy day wine tasting. I highly recommend this place.

Cathbert Country Inn
Franschhoek, South Africa

We stayed at Cathbert for two nights - it was way too short a weekend. The rooms are clean and wonderfully decorated. They have a fireplace in the rooms as well, perfectly suited to the rainy weather we encountered over that particular weekend. Their breakfasts were fantastic. They served the fluffiest omlettes I've ever tasted. We also had their dinner...

Franschhoek Manor
Franschhoek, South Africa

Wolfgang and Christina were the perfect hosts. FM is a small but beautiful guest house/B&B. The settings is breathtaking with views across the valley to the hills behind Franschhoek. The gardens are beautifully manicured. There is a lovely pool and veranda and very laid back feel to the whole place. We stayed in the Master bedroom which was spacious and...
