Our room was broken into and our valuables stolen. The hotel management did not show any concern until we confronted them from information regarding the theft a few days later. This I not palace I would recommend if safety of self and goods is of priority.

I live in Johannesburg and booked a room at The Parkwood for a visiting colleague for a week at the end of April. The location - round the corner from my house - was my primary consideration, but this venue looked like something special. Since I live so close, I thought I would pop past to check it out first...

OK - I usually don't review without having stayed somewhere, but thought this is worth sharing, especially for families. This lodge does not have baby beds/cots and as such is not suitable for families with babies or toddlers requiring a cot or baby bed.

Best decision ever for Christmas!! Impossible to fault. A very warm welcome from Liz and the staff, the rooms comfortable, nay, luxurious, the setting perfect with mature trees and birds everywhere. Such dedicated, personal attention that one almost hesitated to mention the smallest whim, since it was sure to appear. Indeed, there were few whims as everything had been thought...
