i was going to write and write about how horrible the hotel ambassadeur is, but in the end "there's a reason why it's so inexpensive" sums it up.

while the hotel is located in a prime downtown location, it is surrounded by bus (matatu) stops. buses in nairobi are privately owned and the drivers must solicit...
We chose this hotel as there are no hotels at the airport in Nairobi, something that really needs to be fixed! It was reasonably priced, had a good looking website, appears on western sites such as Hotels.com, and was close to the main road out to the airport.
I can't help but feel that The Strand spend all their money...
